Shop Porcelain Bowl & Spoon

Porcelain Bowl & Spoon

€75.00
Only 2 available

Beautiful tactile handmade porcelain bowl and spoon.

I love working with light, shadows & reflections, different views from different angles, how surface finishes, textures & glazing brings different tactile & visual effects- all in a bowl & spoon !!

The pale slate grey coloured porcelain bowl has a choice of a clear gloss glaze on the inside or forest green & a textured or a smooth exterior.

The hand carved spoon evolved after talking with a friend's daughter explaining what a clay pipe was & how as a child I loved cleaning my dad's pipes, this brought back a warm memory which somehow produced these spoons.

10cm diameter approx

There are many steps in producing these bowls, from creating the forms, refining the pieces as they dry, first firing which turns them from clay to ceramic, glazing & re-firing to a high temperature of 1265 degrees to create a strong, non porous form, which is fully functional if so required. Although these are strong pieces I would recommend hand washing.
